Atletico reemerges victorious with the powerful backing of Falcao in the Europa League

Falcao in the Europa LeagueAtletico Madrid once again secured the second season Europa League title in three seasons with wining goals of 3-0 over their companion Spaniards Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday. The brain behind this superb victory goes to coach Diego Simeone and the fantastic shots by Radamel Falcao. Falco emerged as a top scorer in this competition for a second successive season netting a first-half-double that had put Atelico in a complete control under the guidance of Diego that helped in winning the game prior to remaining five minutes of the game. Falco also scored two brilliant goals as a Columbian striker for Porto in the year-2011 before moving over to Spain for big money.

Coach Diego Simeone has helped in reenergizing the 2010 winners of Atletico ever since he took over the charges as a coach in late December at the Calderon. Way back in 1996- Diego Simeone was an eye-catcher as a player for the fans of Calderon where he helped his team in winning the league and cup double. Diego Simeone as a former Argentina Captain and a player with Inter Milan has also lifted the UEFA Cup in the year-1998.

Bilbao’s magic lost

Athletic Bilbao tried to create and repeat the same ferocious intensity that caused it to emerge as a winner over Schalke and Manchester United during 2004.  Alas, the professional playing attitude of Falcao has almost turned the tables on Bilbao thereby loosing their magic touch. Falcao with his superb left foot shot went over the threshing goalkeeper Gorka Iraizoz after seven minutes that hoodwinked the Bilbao’s defense once again in the thirty-fourth minute when he shot the ball from a close range.

A grand showdown for managerial friends-

For Simeone it was a grand showdown with respect to Biesla for which he has played on behalf of Argentina during the last years of his international career. The Madrid fans teased their Basque rivals by chanting “Viva Espana”.  Bilbao through the second half lifted their game midway as Atletico were made to sit back and finally forced to launch an attack of resistance. Atletico nervously rose in defense but were fortunate enough to when Oscar de Marcos failed once again in hitting the target. The defensive strategy of Atletico worked well as Markel Susaeta’s shot turned aside. Atletico finally emerged as a winner with Diego being paid back for a performance over the midfield craftiness that lead to a superb end of the contest.
