British Rock Band – Muse – unveils the official Olympic Games Song

The song named “Survival” has been announced as the first official Olympic Games Song by the British rock band Muse. The sound track for this song has been written and composed by the lead singer of the band Matt Bellamy keeping in mind the spirit of the London Olympic Games – 2012. The song “Survival” will be one of the five official songs that have been selected by the London Olympic Committee.

This song will be played throughout the July 27 –August 12 games period including the time when athletes enter the stadium and as a lead in to the medal ceremonies. The song will also broadcast as a theme for international television coverage.

The song will be aired for the first time on the BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe show after 19:00 BST on Wednesday along with an interview with the band. The song then will be available for sale to the general public online. This rock band was also nominated for three Grammy Awards in 2011, under the category of the Best Rock Album of the year for the song “The Resistance”.

The announcement came at a time when the band has taken part in the official torch procession in which they carried the Olympic flame through their home town on the second day of the seventy day relay. The Muse band is best known for sound tracks such as the Supermassive Black Hole, Knights of Cydonia and Uprising. The band is yet to release their forth coming studio album – The 2nd Law- during the month of September. The band also announced earlier this month that they will play five UK arena dates in October as part of their Europe tour.

The other four songs announced for the London Olympics – 2012 involves artists that include Elton John and Pnau whose songs will be released on July-16th, Delphic on July-23rd, Chemical Brothers on July-30th and of Dizzee Rascal on August 6th. The Olympic organizers also announced that there will be some thirteen performances from different bands and these bands include the Rizzle Kicks, Scissor Sisters and the names of the other groups remaining secretive until the actual performance.
