Angelina Jolie, the successful Hollywood actress is now a special envoy for large scale crises where a large number of people flee their country. She has been a goodwill ambassador for ten years now for the U.N High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

With this new role, she will be able to deal with crises from different countries including Afghanistan and Somalia where people from those countries have fled to the neighboring country due to lack of a political solution. Miss Universe pageant has changed its rules to allow transgender women to take part in the contest. Starting 2013 transgender women will be able to take part in all of its competitions, the organization and gay rights group Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) said on Tuesday. This decision was announced after a media furor over the disqualification of Canadian contestant Jenna Talackova from the upcoming Miss Universe Canada contest as she was not a naturally born female.

Talackova, who is now aged 23 years, underwent a surgery to change her gender when she was 19 years old. She was reinstated to the Canadian competition last week by a businessman Donald Trump, who owns the Miss Universe organization. Talackova has a Canadian passport, driver’s license and other documents that prove her identity as a woman.  The two groups in a joint statement said that Miss Universe after consultation with Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation discussed the change in policy to include transgender women in time for the start of this season’s pageant, a time when competitions around the world take place.

The much anticipated return of the Na’Vis, the native people of Pandora on screen is going to be delayed for at least for another two years. It was previously believed that the sequel to the movie, Avatar would return in the year 2014. But earlier this week, producer Jon Landau officially announced that the release has been moved to at least 2015.

He said he wants to get the movie ‘right’ and there was no point in hurrying. “When the movie is ready it will make the release date. There will be Avatar 3 as well.” He added

The next movie in the trilogy will continue from where the first one ended. The director and producer have said that the second and the third movie will be stand alone by themselves. The second film will not be a set-up for the third one, just as the first one wasn’t for the second one.
