Food, Beverage and Physical Activity Choices Matter for a Healthy Heart

A number of people out there have a family history of heart disease. It’s becoming more and more common today with our sedentary lifestyles. The reasons for this could be a mixture of genetics, environment, lifestyle and being physically inactive.

The good news is we can change it. If we want a healthy heart, it’s in our own hands. We have to make informed and appropriate choices when it comes to food, beverages and physical activity. It’s just not enough to sit up and pay attention, we have to get up and move.

We hear all the time about how physical activity is good for our health. We have to be smart about picking a physical activity when it comes to the health of our heart. A cardiovascular exercise like walking or jogging will prove appropriate. It’s good for the heart, muscles and bones. This is very important for women nearing their 40s.

If it’s not a great deal, following a federal physical activity guide for least 30 minutes for five days a week is recommended. It is understandable that we do not have the time to do a 30 minute ‘physical activity’ everyday. The best thing about this is that, it can be broken down in to different parts and could be easily fitted in to our daily schedules. Like, a five minute brisk walk every hour at the office would mean a good deal of walking. Ever thought about doing it during commercials?

Doctors are shocked to find their bypass patients coming right back with heart diseases. They say we are dealing with the issue without addressing the root cause. Health of our heart is a serious issue.

People, who have been blaming their genes for the health of their heart, no longer can. Research has shown that people who make better lifestyle choices with their diet and exercise can even bring about a change in their genes.

Don’t let fear control your lifestyle choices. Make changes in your food and exercise because you care about your heart. Pick a plant based diet that is low in fat and sodium. Nutrient dense food is a good choice. The thing to remember here is that, the health of our heart is in our hands. Make the right choice.
