Liverpool Charities have a Surprise Visitor on Valentine’s Day

On Valentine’s Day, we often say ‘love is in the Air’ and that was exactly the case in Liverpool, albeit love of a different kind. Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge made a surprise visit to various charity organizations on Valentine’s Day. She visited the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Ronald McDonald House, a home for parents of critically-ill children  and the The Brink Bar; a place for recovering alcoholics.

This is the Kate’s first public outing outside of London without her partner Prince William. Incidentally, he was 8000 miles away working as a RAF search and rescue pilot in Falklands; where he is posted at the moment for six weeks. In-spite of being unable to be together on such a romantic day, Prince William played his part as the doting husband to perfection. He sent some beautiful flowers and a card to greet his wife in the morning. The princess is making use of the available time to warm into the role of a working royal.

The Duchess of Cambridge was given a rousing reception in all places and she kept the all the paparazzi busy. She was moved by Paige Hearn, a four-year old suffering from leukemia, who gifted the princess a photo of Paige watching their royal wedding. She then reached The Brink, where she met up with people recovering from alcohol addiction. Three quarters of the staff at the centre have been patients themselves and have now recovered and helping people with similar issues. Rachael Lyons from Toxteth narrated her story of how the centre had changed her life. A year ago, she was an alcoholic parent, who could not care for her own children. Today, she has turned a corner and has been sober for the past 11 months, thanks to The Brink. She also surprised by the resident choir of the centre made up of recovering addicts named Raucous Caucus Recovery Chorus, they enthralled her with a beautiful rendition of a native American Indian song Wings Of A Dove.

If royalty is around, how can fashion be far behind? The long woolen burgundy coat that she was wearing was sold out in a couple of hours. The Hobbs Unlimited Celeste wool coat was complimented by black high-heeled shoes, black tights and a black handbag. She looked as classy as ever.
