Jolie, the new special envoy for UNHCR

Angelina Jolie, the successful Hollywood actress is now a special envoy for large scale crises where a large number of people flee their country. She has been a goodwill ambassador for ten years now for the U.N High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

With this new role, she will be able to deal with crises from different countries including Afghanistan and Somalia where people from those countries have fled to the neighboring country due to lack of a political solution. UNHCR is quite excited about having Jolie in an extended role, according to their spokes person. She almost became the Special Representative on the Afghan Refugee crisis last year but it fell through because there was no final agreement.

She expected to deal with crises that involve large scale displacement of people and to represent UHNCR effectively. She will be helping in enforcing human laws and communication between governments.

America’s sweethearts are finally engaged

One of the world’s most famous celebrity couples Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are finally engaged. They have been together for years and have six children together but only now have they decided to take their relationship to the next level.

Though there has been no official announcement or a quote from the couple, Brad Pitt’s rep confirmed it to the media. Cynthia Pett-Dante said that the couple don’t have a wedding date in mind yet, but there is one definitely in the future.

Brad Pitt is considered as one of Hollywood’s most famous actors and one of world’s most attractive men. The first movie that brought him to the world’s attention was Thelma & Louise (1991). He later starred in movies like Interview with the Vampire (1994) and Legends of the fall (1994). He rose to fame with Seven and 12 monkeys. It was for 12 Monkeys that he received his Academy Award nomination. He later had more commercial success with Troy and the Ocean’s series.

This year’s Oscar Line up to be Star-Studded

For the 84th Academy Award Ceremony, the academy is putting together a brilliant line up of presenters. The ceremony will take place on the 26th of February. The ceremony hosted by the American Academy of Motion Pictures will honor the best films of 2011.

Eddie Murphy was set to host the show originally, but Billy Crystal has replaced him. This will be his 9th time to host it. Brian Grazer and Don Mischer will be producing it.

This week, Brian Grazer and Don Mischer have added yet another star to the already starry line-up of presenters at the Academy Awards. Angelina Jolie will be joining the talented lineup of presenters that includes Halle Berry, Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Jennifer Lopez and the cast of Bridesmaids.
