The Hunger Games and Bridesmaids to fight it out at MTV Movie AwardsIt will be a slugfest on Tuesday at the forthcoming MTV Movie Awards between “The Hunger Games” and “Bridesmaids”, both of which won eight nominations each as against two by “The Twilight Saga”.  Both of these would be fighting a close race for the widely-watched television spot.

“The Hunger Games” which raked in $600 million in ticket sales is a post apocalyptic fast paced action movie and had earned slots for the best actor, actress and breakthrough performance category this year. Josh Hutcherson, Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth is the cast in that order.

Breathing down “The Hunger Games” neck in the race for MTV’s pop corn trophy is “Bridesmaid” – a female oriented comedy which bagged nominations for movie of the year and best cast apart from its writer-star Kristen Wiig being nominated for best actress and best comedic performance.

Rooney Mara, Emma Stone and Emma Watson will be up against Lawrence and Wiig, the other contenders for the top spot in the best actress category, while Hutcherson will vie with the likes of Channing Tatum,  Daniel Radcliffe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Ryan Gosling for the best actor slot.  The final installment of Harry Potter’s films – “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows-Part 2” and the “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn-Part 1” would be hot contenders for the best movie category and are expected to give a close race to both “The Hunger Games” and the “Bridesmaids”.
