Tiger Woods back with a bang – Michael Thomson trails ahead

Tiger woods – former world number one golf champion came back to his once familiar territory in a bid for a 15th major title in an impressive way.  He took a second place in quite testing conditions on the day of the U.S. Open. Tiger Woods who recently won most of his 14 major titles at the 2008 U.S. Open was confident throughout his round as he surpassed the other playing partners Mickelson and Watson in front of the huge galleries.

However, fellow American Michael Thomson eclipsed Tiger Woods as he made seven birdies – that is seven more than the current world no.1. Luke Donald. For a 4 under 66 that gave Michael Thompson a three-shot lead over Woods. Tiger Woods was one of the six players who broke par, ending the round tied for second with fellow Americans Nick Watney and David Toms, Britain’s Justin Rose and 2010 champion Graeme McDowell of Northern Ireland.
