Pitt-Kidman to Premiere at Cannes

Pitt-Kidman to Premiere at CannesThe glamorous French Riviera is host to the world’s biggest film festival from the 16th to 27th of May. Two movies starring the famous actors will premiere at Cannes which promises a strong North American accent this year. There are 22 films in the race to win the festival’s top honor the Palme d’or. It’s the most coveted prize at the glitzy cinema showcase known to significantly boost a films box office and awards potential.

Officials are hoping that the strong Hollywood presence and filmmakers from around the world will help to overshadow last year’s controversy relating to the Danish director Lars Von Trier’s Nazi jokes in a press conference. “Killing me softly”, directed by Andrew Dominik, starring Brad Pitt is about a heist investigation during a mob-protected poker game. Anderson’s drama “Moonrise Kingdom” will kick off the festival on the 16th while Cronenberg’s “Cosmopolis” starring “Twilight” actor Robert Pattison is in the main running. Cronenberg’s son is in the smaller “un certain regard” selection for his film “Antiviral”. Twilight fans also have something to look forward to with “On the Road” starring Kristen Stewart, Viggo Mortensen and Kirsten Dunst. Contenders from the host country include “Vous N’Avez Encore Rien Vu” from Alain Resnais and Jaques Audiard’s “De Rouille et D’Os” starring Oscar winner Marion Cotillard.
