The Buck Stops Here

Breaking down the basics of modern politics there exists the left and the right.  The left wing involves a sect of progressive bureaucrats known as Democrats while the right group is conservative and calls themselves Republicans.  Democrats, who call themselves liberals, encourage an agenda that fights for social freedom, affirmative action, balanced budgets and a universal health care system;they stress that the government should act as a supreme regulator of all of these issues. While liberals promote the concept of a large government, republicans strongly disagree and believe that the bigger the government the harder it is for society as whole to progress in a free enterprise system (where businesses compete for profit with the least amount of government interference).

There are certain factors that determine whether someone becomes a republican or a democrat.  Differences regarding the economy, taxes and government spending as well as national defense are defining characteristics of both parties.  Republicans believe that the government should stimulate the economy rather than control it by incorporating deregulation and giving businesses tax cuts to encourage free business enterprise.  Democrats on the other hand believe that the government knows best on how to solve financial crisis and takes the decision out of the individual’s hands. The Republican Party supports a strong national defense program, while democrats believe that American security is more dependent on effective foreign relations.  This is proven by the fact over the past ten years there has been controversy on how much we should spend on military intelligence.

Politics is a tricky subject to cover.   It is vast with many separate entities that contain government representatives who make decisions based upon their own version of facts and information.  Politicians are held accountable by the public and are supposed to represent the best interests of citizens from certain areas.  It is said that these legislators are supposed to have thick skin because they are constantly scrutinized by their political adversaries in a society that has grown tired with the lack of proactive decision-making.  Today is has become apparent that there is too much of back and forth bickering within the political landscape of America.
